THERE was a fine win for David Gibbon, of Colchester and Tendring AC, in the first race of the 2011 Friday Five series hosted by Ipswich JAFFA running club.
The 21-year-old finished the challenging five-mile course - starting and finishing at St Joseph’s College - in 27mins 25sec, nine seconds ahead of clubmate Sam Clayton.
Daniel Moss (unattached), Tom Kingsnorth (St Edmund Pacers) and Vincent Coogan (Newmarket Joggers) completed the top five in a bumper field of more than 400 runners.
The women’s race was won by Margaret Deasy, also a Colchester and Tendring AC runner, in 31min 3sec.
A full race report will appear in the EADT and Evening Star later this week
