A QUARTET of teenagers from Culford School will be taking on the country’s best after qualifying for the national finals of a prestigious tennis championship.
Joe Matt (15), Constantin Schmid (16), Jessica Silva (17) and Charlotte Harpur (16) will be taking their place in Culford’s senior mixed team in the AEGON Team Tennis Senior Students Schools Championships this weekend at Bolton.
The team won through their group matches and qualified for the finals with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Boston Grammar School.
They will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of the school’s girls team who won the national finals last year - with Silva and Harpur part of the winning side and looking to complete a unique double victory.
David Hall, Culford’s director of tennis, said: “We are delighted to reach the National Senior Students Finals for a second successive year. This is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of all the players.”
