Leiston tumbled out of the FA Vase after a 1-0 defeat in this afternoon’s quarter final at Coalville Town.
The Suffolk side can have no complaints after being out played by their Leicestershire opponents, who spurned a host of first half opportunities.
Matt Moore twice headed against the crossbar and Jamie Stannard pulled off a couple of good saves as Leiston were relieved to reach the interval still level.
However, the host’s pressure finally told when the Leiston defence failed to clear their lines and Anthony Carney shot home in the 55th minute.
Worse was to follow for Leiston when Neil Calver was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for a reckless challenge and the ten men never looked likely to threaten an equaliser.
