MARC Tierney says Colchester United’s spirited displays to keep coming from behind reflects the fact there are no longer any ‘big time Charlies’ at the club.

The U’s have now won their last three home games in the league having gone behind in all of them following Saturday’s lasp gasp 3-2 victory against Hartlepool.

“This team has a lot of belief in itself and when we went in behind at half-time there was no panic from the manager or players,” said left-back Tierney.

“To keep coming from behind like we have shows the spirit in this club right now. All the lads get on brilliantly both on the pitch and out of office hours as they say.

“When I first came to this club I felt it was a bit cliquey, there was a bit of a division between certain groups of players and that was something the manager back then (Paul Lambert) was trying to sort out.

“There are no longer any cliques, no big time Charlies here now though.”

Tierney played virtually every game last season but was forced to watch loanee Tom Williams take his place for eight games recently as he recovered from the dislocated shoulder he suffered in late September.

“Sometimes you take being injury free for granted,” said Tierney. “It has been frustrating being out the team.

“I’ve been working hard with Dave Carolan and Tony Flynn and am feeling fitter with each game. I’m starting to feel like I’m ready to put in more and more of those over-lapping runs.”
