Martin and Acock Norfolk Women’s League
Division One
MAGPIES travelled to Watton after a two-week break from league action. Magpies started strongly, winning the ball in evenly contested challenges and making the runs to beat the opposition, and were rewarded when Sophie Podd slotted the ball home from a well worked short corner leading Magpies into the break 1-0 up.
The second half saw Kelsey Horlock add her name to the score sheet and Magpies continue to dominate. Watton had a few chances on the break however, only one got through the otherwise solid defence and into the goal.
Magpies reacted by increasing their control on the game, and a good pass from Jemima Jacobs saw Beth Alexander through one on one with the keeper, and she converted to score a well-deserved goal. Magpies look toward their game next week away to Norwich City seconds for more points to stay in the top three.
