SUFFOLK Thai boxer Charlotte Wall is celebrating a winning start to her fight career after beating an experienced foe in Devon at the weekend.

Wall, who fights out of the Unit One Combat Sports and Fitness Gym in Bury St Edmunds, faced Lyndsey Jones, of the Saints Gym in Plymouth, at the North vs South III promotion in Honiton on Saturday.

Fighting at 79kg, the 22-year-old easily took the opening round, making superb use of her long range kicking skills to score well.

The second was tighter, with the more experienced Jones finding her way in to land some good punch combinations.

But in the final round the Bury fighter picked up the pace, successfully landing several strong punch and kick combinations to win the round and the judges decision.

Coach Richard Gent said “This was one of the best first time performances I have seen. I look forward to seeing what Charlotte can achieve in the future.”

Meanwhile, three other Bury Thai boxers, Dean Burroughs (22), Joe Le Maire (12) and Adam Heatrick (7) all put on strong performances at a no decision interclub event in Cambridge, also at the weekend.
