A young player, representing West Suffolk College for the first time, got through to the finals of a table tennis championship, narrowly missing out on competing for the crown of Suffolk County Champion 2010.
Ross Slade, 18, from Fornham St Genevieve, is in the first year of a Sports Studies Applied Science National Diploma at West Suffolk College. He took part in the Suffolk U19 Western Area Table Tennis Championships at Stowupland High School in January.
Ross was up against four competitors in his category. He played well in the group stages and qualified for the final, eventually losing after a closely contested match.
“Ross was a credit to the college and to himself during the competition with his commitment and attitude,” said Neil Gilmore, further education sports coordinator at the college.
