A TUG-OF-WAR has developed between Ridgeons League clubs Hadleigh United and Leiston.
Leiston announced last week that striker Chris Williams had re-signed for the club, after starting the season at Victory Road before returning to Hadleigh, who he helped win promotion to the Premier Division last season.
Ken Ramsey, the Hadleigh United chairman, said today that Williams, who has recently been playing for Ransomes Sports in the Senior Division of the Kingsley Healthcare SIL, is still registered with the Millfield club.
He said: “Leiston put in a seven-day approach for Chris around a fortnight ago but that is as far as it went.
“When the article first appeared, our secretary, Chris Rose contacted Maurice Scrivener (the Ridgeons League's Registrations and Records Officer) to ask who signed the transfer form releasing him from Hadleigh United.
“Maurice confirmed that he had not received any forms and, as far as he is concerned, Chris Williams' registration remains with Hadleigh United.”
