IT'S certainly proving a memorable season for East Bergholt-based striker Sam Newson, whose goalscoring exploits for Stanway Rovers have led to interest from top USA club Los Angeles Galaxy.
Former Ridgeons League player and Colchester United coach Trevor James is assistant coach/director of player development at the club where England legend David Beckham is now based.
Felixstowe and Walton United coach Tony Kinsella was asked by James to recommend any talented local players and Newson's name was passed on.
A possible trial is on the cards.
Newson is easily the highest scorer in the Ridgeons League this season having netted 27 times in 19 Premier Division matches.
He has only failed to score in five games. Second in the scoring charts is Adam Marriott from CRC - 13 goals adrift of Newson.
