THE East Anglian Counties Championship Under-16 match between Suffolk and Bedfordshire at Cornard on Sunday only went ahead after a pitch forking operation by Chris Symes. Referee Tony Joyce originally declared the saturated surface unfit following a heavy downpour.
Suffolk responded magnificently with a 6-2 victory with all six goals coming in the first half. Ryan Crisp (Kirkley & Pakefield) scored four times, one from the penalty spot, with others from Jack Edwards (Woodbridge Town) and Kieran Morley (Stowmarket).
Beds scored twice in an evenly balanced second half through Peveral and Mitchel.
