COLCHESTER United boss Paul Lambert praised David Fox for his inspirational role in the U's deserved win over Yeovil.

Fox set the tone by volleying the U's into a ninth minute lead, and Ashley Vincent added a second just nine minutes later. An 82nd minute free-kick from Ryan Mason was not enough to deny them victory.

“David Fox is at the top of his game at the moment. His technique is a different class,” insisted Lambert.

“He has a good pedigree from Manchester United, and did great at Blackpool, and he never seems to give the ball away. He's a top, top player that kid!

“It was important to get that early goal. We scored two terrific goals and it could have been even more. I thought we thoroughly deserved the win, although the decision for their free-kick (Mason's goal) was pathetic.

“The 7-1 win at Norwich might have overtaken everyone's emotions, but this was a perfect response to Tuesday night (Carling Cup defeat to Leyton Orient). The league is my main priority this season.

“We were well on top until they scored. The club is very vibrant at the moment, and these results breed confidence,” added Lambert.
