Ipswich Town's on-loan defender Matt Penney says he's not thinking about returning to Suffolk in January - but he's 'loving' playing for Motherwell.

The left back has played 13 games - all starts - for the Steelmen since leaving Suffolk for a six-month loan in Scotland back in August.

He's impressed at Fir Park too, with 11 of those matches coming in the Scottish Premiership, which has now halted for the World Cup break.

"I'm delighted with how it has been going," he told the Daily Record. "Every boy wants to play football.

"Getting a run of games is something I've not really had for a while so I'm loving it.

"I'm loving working with the manager, his ideas, his philosophy. Results haven't gone our way but I'm enjoying playing week in, week out and long may it continue.

"The fans have been great with me, but I'll need to see what happens.

"All I can focus on is my football and whatever may be, will be."

The 24-year-old added:"I'm enjoying it up here.

"VAR and the officals, I need to bite my tongue on some stuff. Very questionable, that's all I can say.

"But, in general, I'm enjoying it and playing every week is great."

Asked if he'd thought abouy trying to extend his stay in Scotland, he explained: "It doesn't (come into my thinking), no.

"If I'm honest, I just focus on training, playing on a match day, doing the best I can do.

"Whatever comes with that in January, comes with it.

"I'll just keep helping the boys on the pitch."
