Ipswich Witches ace Jason Doyle produced a superb A final victory to win round one of the Australian Championships at Gillman Stadium, in South Australia today.

The former world champion won the final from the outside with a stunning opening lap as he went round everyone to seal victory. Second was Sheffield's Jack Holder, while Leicester's Max Fricke was third.

On a night where there was plenty of drama and crashes, Doyle was the one to come out on top of a quality field.

The top eight riders went into the semi-finals, although Brady Kurtz, who rides for Belle Vue in Britain, pulled out after taking a fall.

And it was Jack Holder who beat Doyle in the first semi as the Sheffield rider continued his good form, while his brother Chris finished third.

The second semi-final was full of drama as firstly Wolves ace Sam Masters crashed out and then former Ipswich Witch Rohan Tungate was excluded after a coming together with Justin Sedgmen.

It left just two riders only in the race with Fricke, who began his night with two lasts, before rattling off three wins in the heats, heading into the final, alongside Sedgmen.

That final saw Doyle, Jack Holder, Fricke and Sedgmen in action, with the Ipswich man coming out on top.
