Former Ipswich Town striker Connor Wickham has left Forest Green Rovers at the end of his contract.

The 29-year-old scored nine goals in 20 appearances for the League One strugglers, having joined as a free agent in August following his exit from MK Dons.

Wickham scored on his Forest Green debut against Lincoln in August and went on to score a stunning goal from the halfway line in an FA Cup clash with South Shields.

However, Rovers have now confirmed he has moved on and is a free agent once again.

Wickham, who burst on to the scene as a 16-year-old at Town before making a big money move to Sunderland, has seen his promising career ravaged by injuries over recent years.

Released by Crystal Palace in the summer of 2021, he joined Championship club Preston on a short-term deal in September of that year but departed having made just one sub appearance.

He then joined MK Dons, coming off the bench in his side’s 0-0 draw with Town at Stadium MK last season.

Wickham is now a free agent during the January window.
