Ipswich Town striker target George Hirst is watching the Blues in action at Portman Road this afternoon.

The striker, who remains on loan at Blackburn but will likely be recalled by Leicester, is in the directors box for the Blues’ FA Cup clash with Rotherham.

Hirst was a prime striker target for the Blues over the summer, prior to his move to Ewood Park and that interest remained heading into the current transfer window.

The 23-year-old has struggled for minutes in the Championship this season, not scoring in 11 appearances, only two of which have been league starts.

MORE: Blues agree fee for Everton attacker

Making additions to the striking ranks has been a priority for the Blues this month and Kieran McKenna’s side are understood to have agreed a fee for Everton’s 24-year-old attacker Nathan Broadhead, though there is still some way to go to complete the move.

When asked about incoming transfers yesterday, ahead of this afternoon’s game, McKenna said: "You never know how close things are to be honest. There's nothing on the A12, I can tell you that. So you can have a fairly quiet Friday evening!

"But we're working very hard on some targets and when there's some news to update people with the club will be very prompt on that."
