Ipswich Town have turned down approaches for winger Kyle Edwards heading into transfer deadline day.

Edwards, 24, made his 50th Ipswich appearance when he came off the bench in Saturday’s FA Cup draw with Burnley but has struggled for regular starts in League One this season.

It’s understood multiple clubs have made contact with Town ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline, regarding a loan move, but they have been turned down by Ipswich.

Sky Sports have reported one of those clubs to be Championship side Hull City.

Though he has only started three league games for Town this season, Edwards has featured in 28 games, scoring two goals.

Manager Kieran McKenna has regularly stated his desire to keep his first-team players at Portman Road for the push for promotion, with Edwards considered an important part of the squad.

Speaking recently, McKenna said: "Those who are in our first-team group at the moment that are playing minutes we’ve got no desire, no willingness or no thoughts whatsoever on anybody leaving the group. So that’s not really in the question at the moment.

“Of course, there’s always interest from other clubs in players who aren’t getting that many minutes in your group and you’ll get enquiries at this time of the year for availability, and for loans especially.

“That’s always going on, but for the core of our group here who have been part of it, there are absolutely no thoughts on any movement in that way.”

When asked what transfer deadline day may hold for Town, McKenna said on Friday: "The club, as I've said, are making sure that they're still active behind the scenes, are aware of what's going on and what players may or may not be available.

"If there's anything that is available very late in the window that we think could have a really big impact for us then we will be ready.

"But we are also happy with the squad we have in the building.

"There's nobody clsoe to an exit and we're comfortable with what we have."
