Ipswich Town striker Gassan Ahadme has returned to Burton Albion on loan for the rest of the season.

The Blues signed the 22-year-old from the Brewers on deadline day last summer and, since then, he’s scored one goal in eight Ipswich appearances.

A foot injury disrupted his start to life with the Blues and, following the signing of George Hirst, he finds himself on the fringes of Kieran McKenna’s first-team squad.

He’s now returned to Burton, where he scored eight goals in 22 appearances for the club after signing from Norwich a year ago.

Because he featured eight times for Burton at the start of the season, scoring five goals, the Brewers are the only side Ahadme could have joined due to players being restricted to representing only two clubs in a single season.

And, after much consideration, Town have now sanctioned the move in order for Ahadme to get as much time on the pitch as possible.

Speaking recently, Town boss Kieran McKenna said: “We’ve been in conversation with Gassan because he’s our player and he’s someone we think highly of.

“It’s important we have the right next step for him. We’re having those conversations and we’ll keep them internal.”
