Ipswich Town Women were denied all three points as Watford netted a stoppage-time equaliser to snatch a 1-1 draw at Grosvenor Vale on Sunday.

Lucy O'Brien put the Blues ahead in the first half, but Poppy Wilson's header late on shared the points as two of the division's top sides went head-to-head.

East Anglian Daily Times:

The game started brightly, with the Blues going close in the opening 10 minutes when Sophie Peskett latched onto a loose ball but her low shot was comfortably held by the Watford keeper Georgie Ferguson.

It was Town who were on top, having mulitple half chances, before breaking the deadlock when Watford failed to deal with Abbie Lafayette's cross, resulting in Ferguson spilling the ball, and Lucy O'Brien was on hand to calmly slot the ball into the bottom corner.

Town continued to apply the pressure after the break and soon had the ball in the net for the second time as Maria Boswell's squared pass was turned into her own net by Anne Meiwald, but the linesman adjudged Boswell to be offside in the build-up.

East Anglian Daily Times:

The home side soon began to grow into the game, having chances of their own, before finding a late equaliser as Annie Rossiter delivered into the Town area and Wilson arrived at the back-post to bury her header beyond Sarah Quantrill.

Town immediately looked to restore the lead from the restart as Natasha Thomas slotted the ball through to Zoe Barratt, but it wasn't to be for Town as she dragged her shot just past the post.

The Tractor Girls will be frustrated to be denied all three points, with league leaders Oxford losing their first league game of the season at Cheltenham.

This result sees Town remain third in the FAWNL Southern Premier Division table, five points behind new leaders Portsmouth.

Joe Sheehan's side return to action on Sunday away to Bridgwater United at Fairfax Park.
