Leiston's Rossi Jarvis admits he is enjoying life at Victory Road right now as the Blues continue their push for promotion this weekend.

The Blues entertain Hitchin Town, looking to double their opponents after winning 3-0 earlier in the season at Top Field.

Chris Wigger and Darren Eadie's team sit in second place in the Southern League Central Premier Division table as they continue their promotion push.

They also put an Ipswich Town XI out of the Suffolk Premier Cup in midweek to make it through to the last eight.

"We know, like every game, Hitchin will be tough and we will have to be at the races to continue our form," Jarvis, who joined Leiston from Dereham in the summer, said.

"Life at Leiston is all good at the minute, I’m enjoying this season and hopefully myself and the team can keep enjoying it.”

After drawing 0-0 in Leicestershire last weekend with Coalville Town in the league, the Blues continued a good week, progressing in the Premier Cup as they defeated an Ipswich 2-1 on home soil.

After going a goal down just after the hour mark, Adam Mills levelled on 68 minutes before Finlay Barnes netted the winner on his 100th Leiston appearance in the third minute of stoppage time after good work by George Quantrell to seal their passage through to the quarter-finals.

Zach Dronfield made his first appearance for Leiston on Tuesday since his bad injury he sustained at Needham Market in the FA Cup in September last year.

"Tuesday night’s win over Ipswich was probably a different type of game compared to what we normally have in the league," defender Jarvis said.

"They were energetic and moved the ball well.

"It was it was a useful game for us as it allowed us to get important minutes into the legs of some of the boys who haven't played much of late.

"It was really pleasing to see Zach back playing after a lengthy lay off with an injury.

"To be honest it was a relief to get a winner in the last minute as it felt like we had enough chances to win two or three games."

But this weekend it's all about league points once more.

And it is another quick-fire weekend for the Blues as, after Saturday's clash with Hitchin, they travel to Redditch United on Monday.
