Ipswich Town Women made it eight straight wins as they beat MK Dons 2-0 at Stadium MK yesterday.

First-half goals from Natasha Thomas and Abbie Lafayette were enough to claim all three points.

The Tractor Girls were playing their first game in three weeks and took the lead in the 11th minute when Maria Boswell crossed the ball to the back stick and Thomas rose highest to head in off the post.

Six minutes later the Blues made it two when Anna Grey was hauled down inside the area and up stepped Lafayette, who rifled her penalty beyond the Dons keeper.

Joe Sheehan's side were unable to add to their early goals but were comfortable victors for their eighth win on the bounce.

The Blues stay third in the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division with leaders Oxford United claiming a last-gasp 2-1 victory at Portsmouth and Watford, in second, winning 2-0 at home to the London Bees.
