Ipswich Witches 52

King's Lynn Stars 38

Ipswich Witches comfortably saw off the challenge of King’s Lynn Stars at Foxhall Stadium to secure two Premiership points this afternoon.

The meeting started in light drizzle, but ended in glorious sunshine, in front of a healthy Bank Holiday crowd.

Twelve points up after four heats, the home side never looked troubled in this derby clash, with Emil Sayfutdinov leading the way with a 15 point maximum.

Sayfutdinov received good backing from his team-mates and they celebrated his full house by giving him the bumps at the end of heat 15.

Jason Doyle picked himself up after a first bend fall to win the rerun of the opening heat and with team-mate Danyon Hume following him home the Witches were off to a perfect start.

There was another stoppage in the second race, with King's Lynn guest Kyle Howarth excluded after three riders fell, with the track possibly a little slippery from the light drizzle.

Fast-starting Hume was away in the rerun from Jason Edwards, as the home side extended their lead, before another heat advantage followed in the third, as Danny King passed Krzysztof Kasprzak for victory, with his team-mate Keynan Rew finishing third.

Heat four saw Sayfutdinov and Hume score the Witches second 5-1 of the afternoon as the Witches extended their lead to twelve points before Lynn pulled a couple back in heat five.

Doyle then showed his class in the sixth when he reared on the second bend of the opening lap and had to fight his way past both visiting riders to take the chequered flag.

Sayfutdinov picked up his second win in the seventh with Hume pulling up when third and King won the eighth, to keep the home sides healthy 10 point advantage intact.

Lynn brought in Fredrik Jakobsen as a tactical in the next but he trailed in at the back in a race won by his team-mate Michael Palm Toft.

Heat ten saw another Witches 5-1 with Doyle winning from an improving Keynan Rew before Sayfutdinov won the next in a share of the spoils.

Heat twelve saw Danny King passed by both Lynn riders, as the visitors pulled four points back, but the home sides dominance was soon restored, by a Sayfutdinov and Doyle maximum in the thirteenth.

Rew and Hume filled the minor places in the penultimate heat, with Sayfutdinov rounding off the meeting in style when completing his full house.
