Ipswich Town Women thrashed Cheltenham Town 8-0 at the AGL Arena on Sunday as they took the FAWNL Southern Premier Division title race to the final day of the season.

The Tractor Girls took the lead on the half hour mark when Lucy O'Brien's
shot was palmed away by Aimee Watson, but Anna Grey was on hand to follow up the rebound.

Ten minutes after the restart, O’Brien was fouled inside the area and Bonnie Horwood stepped up and side-footed her penalty into the bottom corner. Two minutes later it was 3-0 when Sarah Brasero-Carreira fired the ball into the roof of the net from six yards out.

The Blues made it 4-0 when the vistors failed to clear their lines, and Eloise King was on hand to slam home the loose ball through the fingertips of Watson. Town were awarded another penalty which Horwood stepped up to take again - this time she fired into the other corner to make it 5-0.

It was then six goals for Town when Grey took the ball to the byline and cut back for the arriving Holly Turner to slam home off the post for her first goal for the club. Then, a minute later, Cheltenham defender Holly Finch turned the ball into her own net after Watson had parried out a Grey effort.

The visitors were then reduced to 10 players when Charlie Taylor was sent off for a second bookable offence, with Town continuing to be relentless as Sophie Peskett fired home a loose ball for the final goal of the game.
