Conor Chaplin is keen to add League One’s Golden Boot to his haul of trophies on the final day of the season.

Town’s No.10 took his season’s tally to 29 with another brace in the promotion-winning thumping of Exeter on Saturday, with his record of 26 in the league putting him a goal clear of Peterborough’s Jonson Clarke-Harris in the third-tier scoring charts.

His efforts also saw him voted supporters players of the year, but the 26-year-old is hungry for more silverware, with the Blues heading to Fleetwood knowing they could potentially win the title and reach their century for both goals and points.

“I definitely fancy it,” he said, with a big smile, when asked about the Golden Boot. “That would be nice, eh.

“It would be incredible if we could go and win next weekend, while 100 goals in the league would be very, very impressive.”

Speaking on Sky Sports, where he was asked how he has managed such a prolific season, Chaplin said: "I'm not sure, but I am in a very, very good team who creates a lot of chances, which helps.

“We have a manager who sets the team up in a way that suits me and definitely gets the best out of me. It’s a combination of team-mates and manager for sure, as well as a lot of hard work.

“I have always felt like I’ve had this amount of goals in me but I didn’t envision it being this season. I’m just so grateful I’ve been able to help the team and we’ve been able to be successful together.”

While Chaplin goes to Fleetwood looking to make sure of the Golden Boot, he and his team-mates' real objective is to secure the victory which could also potentially win them the League One title.

“Yeah, definitely,” the attacker said, when asked if the chance to win the league had cut promotion celebrations a little short.

“The only motivation we need is the chance to win the title on Sunday. We’ve had a couple of days off but we’re back in now and, knowing the boss, it’s definitely going to be a tough training session today.

“So we’ll taper down the celebrations a little bit and focus on Sunday.”
