And while the players and manager Kieran McKenna take most of the plaudits, Woolfenden insisted the backroom staff deserve a hefty chunk of the credit.

“They deserve it because there are so many things people behind the scenes people don’t see,” the defender said.

“The staff get in hours before anyone else and leave hours after everyone, so they’re a massive, massive part of why we got promoted. They deserve that.”

All involved in Town’s promotion took to the stage during Monday’s celebration event in Christchurch Park, with Woolfenden enjoying the opportunity to share the success with the club’s supporters.

“It’s been a great day, with everyone enjoying it, singing songs and having a laugh,” he continued, speaking in a club interview.

“Doing things like this is important because not everyone can go to games, especially our away games that sell out and are impossible to get tickets for.

“This is such a close community and with the club being so important to it, it’s important everyone gets the chance to celebrate.

“For the whole town it’s been a tough time so to celebrate is important.

“When I was growing up you never saw Ipswich tops anywhere but now the amount of kids around here in Ipswich tops is unbelievable.”
