Ipswich Town suffered their first defeat of the season as they were beaten 4-3 by Leeds United at Portman Road. Alex Jones provides his player ratings for the Blues.

Vaclav Hladky

Clear question marks as to whether he could've done better with the third goal, spilling a cross into the path of Joel Piroe, but otherwise a fairly solid performance. Couldn't have done much about the other three goals and made five good saves. His distribution and calmness under pressure will be huge in the absence of Christian Walton. 6

Harry Clarke

The first-half battle between Clarke and Luis Sinisterra was a non-event. The Colombian international caused so many problems down Ipswich's right, and Clarke just couldn't handle it. As the momentum switched, he grew into the game more and more, clearly thriving in a more attacking role as his side searched for an equaliser. 5

Luke Woolfenden

One of those games where his relaxed style was exploited. Neither he nor Cameron Burgess looked comfortable against Leeds' pace on the counter, and he was one of the main culprits for Leeds' three-punch knockout in the first half. It was hard to come back after that. 5

Cameron Burgess

Same again, really. A tough day at the office against some of the best attacking players in the league. Both he and Woolfenden will be better off for these kinds of experiences, but they struggled against the likes of Georginio Rutter, Joel Piroe and Wilfried Gnonto. 5

Leif Davis

Leeds know all about Davis, which means that he was limited in the early stages of the game. He grew into it later on and contributed more going foward, creating some good chances from open play and set pieces. Not one of his better games, but hard to fault him too much. 6

Sam Morsy

This was always going to be a big test for him, and it was one he found hard. Morsy likes to be the metronome in midfield, controlling everything around him, but he wasn't able to do that against Leeds, losing the most duels in the game (12). He became frustrated when things were going against Town and struggled to impact the game. 5

Massimo Luongo

Dictated the game a bit better than Morsy, but found it hard in similar ways. Overrun by Leeds' pace and precision at times, meaning that he was working with little space in midfield. Did his best but also struggled to have an impact, especially after his booking in the second half. 5

Wes Burns

Leeds afforded him acres of space, but he didn't really manage to take advantage. Could've put Town 2-0 up inside the opening stages, but was hesitant with his finish. His pace and athleticism caused them huge problems, which allowed him to create handful of chances, but nobody had any real end product to capitalise from them. 7 (MotM)

Conor Chaplin

Found space well but had little impact in the final third until the end. Leeds were well prepared for what he'd bring to the game and he had next to no opportunities to threaten aside from his late strike. He deserves credit for that though, it was a good hit. 6

Nathan Broadhead

When he's on it, he's one of the best players on the pitch. Broadhead had periods where he showed the immense quality we all know he has, but doing so throughout the 90 minutes has been hard for him this season. Hopefully everything will click into place with another goal. Could've been different if he grew into the game quicker. 6

Kayden Jackson

Showed exactly why he's a vital part of this squad, even if he isn't going to be a first-choice starter every week. He could still be credited with the first goal, where he carved open a huge gap in Leeds' back line and forced the own goal. He was involved in a lot of what Town did in the final third and would've scored at least once with better finishing. Set up the second goal for Broadhead with a really tenacious piece of play. 7

Substitute: Brandon Williams (72')

A brutal welcome to Championship football. Williams was comfortably beaten by Sinisterra just two minutes into his debut, allowing the Colombian international to wrap up the win in the second half. He'll need more game time to get up to scratch. 4

Substitute: Omari Hutchinson (72')

Didn't have much of an impact in the end. A good chance to cross from the right in the final ten minutes, but ended up cutting inside and going for goal instead, firing wide. Tested Meslier with a powerful shot soon after, but the Frenchman had it covered. 5

Substitute: Freddie Ladapo (72')

Was brought on to find an equaliser but couldn't find the right space. When Leeds scored their fourth, he became totally isolated. Like Hutchinson, needed more time to have an impact. 5
