A far-from-pretty performance from Ipswich Town Women saw them bounce back from a disappointing loss on Wednesday night as they beat MK Dons Women 1-0 at Stadium MK this afternoon.

After a 15-minute delay to kick-off due to the heavy downpour of rain during the warm-ups, the game got underway.

The first chance of the game came 12 minutes in when a poor goal kick went straight to Sophie Peskett, who set Maisy Barker up who forced a good save from the Dons keeper.

Another couple of chances for Ipswich followed as Peskett found herself in space on the right hand side, delivering a few good balls in the middle, but no one could turn it in the back of the net.

Town came close following a great ball once again by Peskett, but the headed shot was put just wide by Ruby Doe at the back post.

Dons came close just before half time following a corner, but the header went just past the post.

We had to wait 10 minutes for the first chance of the second half to come, and it was in favour of Town, as Peskett took the ball on her left inside the area, striking high, but the Dons keeper pulled off a great save to deny.

A great chance for MK Dons just after as Puddick bombed forward into the area, before being denied by Poppy Soper in the Town net.

Dons came close again in the 73rd minute, as substitute Lily Dolling fired just over the bar.

Peskett caused no end of problems for the Dons defence, who couldn't get near her, but unfortunately, her driven crosses were never met by a blue shirt to turn it in.

A fair amount of time wasting from MK Dons in the 85th minute resulted in two yellow cards being shown in quick succession.

Town finally broke the deadlock in the 89th minute as that girl again, Peskett, took on the left back who couldn't handle her at all throughout the game. She delivered a ball into the box, and Natasha Thomas hooked it into the roof of the net.

Town now have nine points from the four games at the start of the season. They face London Bees at the AGL Arena in Felixstowe next week.
