Ipswich Town Women continued their impressive start to the season with a convincing 5-0 win over London Bees at the AGL Arena in Felixstowe this afternoon.

Manager Joe Sheehan made two changes to the team that beat MK Dons last week, with Laura Hartley making her debut for Town in goal and match winner Natasha Thomas starting in place of Holly Turner.

After constant pressure in the opening seven minutes, Town made the breakthrough as Lenna Gunning-Williams held the ball up well in the area, getting a shot away, but the Bees keeper parried it into the path of Thomas, who finished into an empty net.

It was 2-0 within 13 minutes as a fantastic run from Summer Hughes down the left flank led to the Bees keeper parrying another shot, this time into the path of Sophie Peskett who finished calmly.

The Bees had their first chance of the game in the 19th minute as forward Kayla Potter ran through, but her shot scraped the top of the crossbar.

Town scored a third in the 23rd minute as Thomas bagged her second of the game with a header from a corner, looping over the goalkeeper into the net.

Gunning-Williams scored goal number four of the game, as Peskett drove forward, and Ruby Doe's shot deflected into the path of the Tottenham loanee to put Town well in charge at the break.

The Blues then started the second half as impressively as they played in the first half, with chances falling to Gunning-Williams, Hughes and Doe, with the latter hitting the crossbar.

There were few chances for either team in the 20 minutes that followed, with neither side troubling the goalkeepers.

A mistake from the Bees keeper lead to the fifth for Town, with Doe capitalising on the mistake, finishing into the empty net to score her first Town goal.
