Ipswich Town Women return to action as they travel to Oxford United today (2pm). Ross Halls previews the game.

Joe Sheehan's side are currently second in the Southern Premier Division table, having won their last three games - most recently thrashing Cheltenham Town 8-0 at the AGL Arena in Felixstowe.

The Tractor Girls had a weekend off last week due to Cheltenham Town withdrawing from the FAWNL Cup, so Town received a bye to the second round of the competition.

They have since been drawn away to Cardiff City in the second round, with the tie set to be played on Sunday 5th November.

Today's hosts, Oxford United, are currently sitting seventh in the table, having started their campaign with two wins, one draw and three defeats.

The U's have had a summer of change, with number of players moving on. They have also seen manager Liam Gilbert join Women's Championship side Reading.

They were knocked out of the FAWNL Cup last Sunday, losing 2-0 at Hashtag United. They were also beaten 4-0 at Portsmouth in their last league game.

A familiar face is upfront for them in the form of Zoe Barratt, who left the Blues last season to join MK Dons. She went on to join the U's this summer, where she has scored three goals so far this season.

The two sides last met on the final day of the 2022/23 season at the AGL Arena, with Town winning 1-0 thanks to a goal from Freya Godfrey. It was not enough for them to claim the league title, however, as they missed out on goal difference.

The game is being played at Court Place Farm, the home of Oxford City, who play in the National League.

In other news, Natasha Thomas has been voted as Town's Player of the Month for September, having scored 10 goals in five games.
