Ipswich Town Women lost their second game of the season to Oxford United this afternoon, after a poor first-half showing.

The Blues got back on level terms after going 1-0 down, only to fall to a late winner by the U's.

Manager Joe Sheehan said: "It's never an easy place to come to.

"I am disappointed with the way we started. That first half was probably a shadow of ourselves.

"It's a different surface to what we are used to and it was incredibly hot which didn't help.

"We weren't at our best the first half, second half we came out better and had some really good chances, could have had a penalty or two but then you get that sucker punch later on.

"When you score you're in the ascendancy, and the players ran back to their half to restart the game and go for that second goal, but the momentum shifted and Oxford had a good spell and managed to get the winning goal."

Town right-back Maisy Barker went down injured a couple of times during the match, eventually being substituted on 61 minutes.

Sheehan said: "We're not sure what happened to her.

"She will be assessed and we will try and find out what happened, hopefully it's nothing too serious."
