Ipswich Town have confirmed that Freddie Ladapo has completed his loan move to Charlton Athletic.

The striker will spend the rest of the season with the Addicks, who currently sit 13th in League One.

Ladapo joined the Blues from Rotherham United in 2022, featuring in all 46 league games and scoring 17 goals in his first season at the club as they won promotion to the Championship.

This season has been much harder for him, however, with George Hirst signing on a permanent deal from Leicester City. The 30-year-old has been competing with Kayden Jackson and Dane Scarlett, before the latter was recalled by Tottenham Hotspur, limiting his minutes.

Following Hirst’s hamstring injury, the club have been keen to sign at least one striker before the end of the January transfer window, pushing Ladapo further towards the exit door. Charlton acted quickly to bring him to The Valley, hoping that he can fire them towards the play-off places.

The move means that he’ll join up with fellow Town loanee Panutche Camara in South London, although the midfielder is currently ruled out through injury.

Charlton travel to Burton Albion tomorrow afternoon while Ipswich face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Monday night.
