Ipswich Town won't be pursuing the loan signing of defender Paul Dummett.

The Blues are considering adding some strength in depth at left-back given the uncertainty surrounding Brandon Williams' loan spell from Manchester United and Janoi Donacien's ongoing groin injury.

The Newcastle Chronicle has reported that the Magpies have 'resisted a deadline day approach from Championship promotion hopefuls Ipswich' for Dummett, while Football Insider reports that Leeds are also keen on the 32-year-old.

We understand that Dummett was put to the Blues as a potential option, but that he was not a player of interest and those brief discussions went no further.

Dummett has played more than 200 times for his boyhood club but been restricted to just one sub appearance in the Premier League this season. He is due to be out of contract this coming summer.

Town were keen on signing experienced left-sider Marvin Johnson from Sheffield Wednesday this window, but the two clubs were well apart on valuation for the 33-year-old.

Former Middlesbrough man Marc Bola, currently at Turkish club Samsunspor, was highlighted as a potential target, but ultimately not pursued.
