Cameron Humphreys featured for Ipswich Town U21s as they beat Bristol City 2-0 at a very wet Playford Road this lunchtime.
An own goal and a Tommy Taylor strike saw John McGreal's side secure back-to-back wins, having gone into into the game following their 3-1 win at Cardiff last week.
Town fielded first-teamer Humphreys, who was making another appearance for the young Blues this season, and trialist keeper Solomon Honor.
The young Blues took control early on before they went ahead in the 20th minute when Harry Barbrook whipped over a cross from the left which saw Josh Campbell-Slowey slice his clearance into his own net.
15 minutes later Town doubled their lead, when Barbrook again crossed low from the left and Taylor slid in to beat the keeper to the ball and strike into the far corner of the net.
Overall it was a scrappy first half in very wet conditions, with Leon Ayinde and Matt Ward having shots going wide and blocked respectively.
The visitors had the better of the chances in the second half, but many of them were not clear cut as the rain continued to pour down.
The Robins came close to pulling a goal back when Raekwon Nelson was played through on goal but Honor made a incredible save with an outstretched foot.
That landed at Kai Churchley, who looped the rebound towards the empty goal but Barbrook got back to make a fantastic off the line clearance as he nodded over.
Town had to battle for the three points in the second period and deservedly kept a clean-sheet as Honor impressed in goal, having only joined up with the young Blues yesterday.
The 17-year-old keeper is currently with Blackburn Rovers, and was previously with Manchester City’s youth set-up for eight years.
Despite the rain, it was another good watch as Humphreys ran the game in midfielder and showed his quality throughout.
Barbrook, who is the captain for Town, impressed again at left-back going forward well and putting in dangerous crosses throughout which result in two goals.
They return to action when they travel to Watford on Friday afternoon.
Town: Honor, Babb, H Barbrook (C), Mazionis, O'Connor, Turner, Humphreys, Ward, Taylor, Roberts, Ayinde.
Subs: Cullum, Ayoola, Okunowo, Nwabueze, Uzor-Greey.
