It's a sporting fairy-tale which is getting closer to coming true - and now the bookies think Ipswich Town could win the Championship title, against all the odds.

The newly-promoted Blues are sitting top of the table with just six games left, ahead of recently-relegated Premier League sides Leeds United and Leicester City.

It now appears to be a three-horse race for the top two spots, with Town dramatically beating fourth-place Southampton 3-2 on Easter Monday.

And that win has seen bookies start to believe, shortening the odds on Town doing the unthinkable and winning the title from 10/1 to 7/2.

Leicester remain the outright favourites but have eased in price from 8/13 before the Easter double header to 10/11, while Leeds remain untouched at 7/4.

Lee Astley, spokesperson for betideas.com, said: “We well and truly have a three-horse Championship title race on our hands following last weekend’s manic fixtures, with Ipswich the biggest winners in the betting after their late show against Southampton on Monday.

“Kieran McKenna’s men have seen their price to win the title slashed from 10/1 to 7/2 following this weekend’s action, with Leicester (10/11) and Leeds (7/4) only narrowly ahead of the Tractor Boys in the betting.”
