Ipswich Town Women won their first game back at the AGL Arena following their inspirational Portman Road fixture, beating MK Dons 1-0 in a dominant display, with top goalscorer Natasha Thomas' strike the difference.

The first ten minutes of the match were a very even affair, with both teams attacking, but producing little end product.

Town had the first shot of the game, which came in the 24th minute, following a good run from right-back Maisy Barker who found top scorer Thomas in the area, but her shot trickled wide of the post.

Town had another opportunity just minutes later as Lucy O'Brien played a delightful through ball to Lenna Gunning-Williams, but her shot was saved by the Dons goalkeeper.

Town looked the more likely to score all half and in the 44th minute the goal came, as Barker played a ball across the box which was met by the head of Thomas, who torqued her body perfectly to nod home.

Incredibly, the strike was her 149th for the club.

Town went in 1-0 up at the break, but it could have been more. They were the dominant side throughout, with the Town defence largely untroubled.

The second half started slowly, with neither team having any chances in the first 15 minutes of the restart.

Town had much of the possession but were unable to create any chances when it came to the final third.

Then the Tractor Girls had a series of chances in quick succession, with Summer Hughes, O'Brien and Thomas all having opportunities.

MK Dons had a spell of possession and created a couple of chances, coming about through set pieces, but Town were able to prevent any clear-cut chances.

The Tractor Girls were duly able to see out the one-goal lead, picking up three points.

Their next fixture is against high-flying Hashtag United at the AGL Arena on April 14.
