Ipswich Town U21s put in a impressive display as they beat ten-man Burnley 4-1 at Playford Road this afternoon.

A brace for Jesse Nwabueze and one each for Steven Turner and Osman Foyo secured the young Blues their fourth straight home victory.

John McGreal's side went into this game off the back of a 2-1 defeat at Peterborough United last month, but got back to winning ways in the Professional Development League Two South.

It took just eight minutes for Town to open the scoring when Leon Ayinde teed up Nwabueze, who slotted home for his first goal of the game.

Town then went on score two quick-fire goals as Turner, who signed his first pro deal with the club earlier in the week, made it 2-0 with a great strike from just outside the box in the 21st minute.

The young Blues then added their third two minutes later when Foyo shot across goal and the ball was deflected into his own net by a Clarets defender.

The visitors pulled a goal back ten minutes later via Joe Bevan, who slotted past Town keeper Charlie Binns to make it 3-1 in the first half.

The Clarets were then reduced to ten men two minutes after the restart when Noah Adeyoke was shown a straight red card for a foul on Tommy Taylor.

Town went on to restore their three-goal cushion on the hour mark when Nwabueze netted his second of the afternoon with another fine finish.

Overall it was an impressive team performance for Town, as every player had a part to play in the win - from the defence playing well out from the back, to the midfield taking control in the middle of the park from the off and the attackers making many good opportunities.

Nwabueze was a real standout not just for his goals but his overall game as he caused havoc down the right with his pace. He took his goals well which is good to see after overcoming some injury set-backs.

The young Blues were clinical on the day but could've scored more in what was a entertaining but scrappy game against their Lancashire opposition.

They return to action when they travel to Crewe Alexandra on Monday next week.
