Ipswich Town Women's season came to a close at the AGL Arena in Felixstowe this afternoon, with a 1-0 victory over Billericay Town as top scorer Natasha Thomas made the difference.

Town had much of the possession in the first 10 minutes, creating a couple of chances, but nothing that troubled the goalkeeper.

18 minutes in, Town broke the deadlock, as Kyra Robertson played a delightful through ball to Lenna Gunning-Williams, who squared the ball to an open Thomas, who calmly hit the ball past the goalkeeper.

The Tractor Girls continued to be the dominant team, with chances falling for Lucy O'Brien and Spurs loanee Gunning-Williams from range, but they went just over the bar.

The Blues dominated a half of little quality, with Town seeing more of the ball, but producing very little end product, meaning just Thomas' strike separated the sides at the break.

The second half started much the same, with Town seeing a lot of the ball, but not creating much, other than a speculative Ruby Doe overhead kick which flew past the post.

A good chance fell to Thomas, who was left in space following a long range effort from Maria Boswell, but she was flagged for offside after her effort hit the underside of the bar.

Billericay's goalkeeper was the saviour for the away side on multiple occasions in the second half, pulling off great saves to deny Laura Mitchell and O'Brien.

In the 71st minute, Billericay went down to 10 as Kayleigh Stead was shown a second yellow for a challenge on Sophie Peskett and they were subsequently unable to find a leveller.

The win brings Town's season to a close.

Town finished fourth in the league, but the team created some memorable moments, including dispatching Championship side Lewes in the FA Cup convincingly, having the league's top scorer in Thomas and the league's best player in Peskett, and playing at Portman Road in front of over 10,000 people.
