Seven former Ipswich Town players are still locked in contract talks with their current clubs ahead of summer transfer window. Ross Halls takes a look at them.

ASMIR BEGOVIC

Town career: 2009 (on loan from Portsmouth)

Appearances: 6

The 36-year-old goalkeeper is in talks with QPR over a new deal, although the West London club face competition from Bournemouth and Celtic according to reports. 

Begovic joined the Hoops following the expiry of his contract at Everton last summer, signing a one-year-deal at Loftus Road.

He was crucial in helping them stay in the Championship, making 45 appearances as they finished 18th in the second tier. 

TEDDY BISHOP

Town career: 2014-2021

Appearances: 132 - Goals: 5

The 27-year-old midfielder has been offered a new deal at Lincoln City but negotiations are still ongoing, with potential interest from other League One clubs. 

Bishop joined the Imps from Ipswich on a free transfer in the summer of 2021, where he has since made over 100 appearances during his time at Sincil Bank. 

He featured 39 times for them last season as they narrowly missed out on a play-off spot, finishing seventh in third tier.

DOMINIC IORFA

Town career: 2017-2018 (on loan from Wolves)

Appearances: 25 - Goals:

The 28-year-old defender is still in talks with Sheffield Wednesday over a new deal, having spent the last five years at Hillsborough. 

Iorfa joined the Owls from Wolves in January 2019, where he has since played over 150 games, helping them win promotion to the Championship in 2022/23. 

He made 30 appearances as they remained in the second tier following a remarkable run under Danny Rohl, finishing 20th in the table. 

TOM CARROLL

Town career: 2021-2022

Appearances: 17

The 32-year-old midfielder is in talks with Exeter City, having signed a one-year contract last summer after a year out of the game following his release from Ipswich in 2022. 

Carrol was offered a permanent player/coach role at Spurs after training with their under-21's side throughout the 2022/23 season, but he turned that down to sign for Gary Caldwell’s side instead.

He had impressive season with the Grecians, making 45 appearances in all competitions and scoring one goal as they finished 13th in the third tier.

ALEX MCCARTHY

Town career: 2012 (on loan from Reading)

Appearances: 10

The 34-year-old goalkeeper is still in talks with Southampton regarding a potential new deal, with Celtic, Liverpool and Newcastle United also reportedly interested in signing him.

McCarthy has been with the Saints since 2016, making close to 150 appearances for the club that he helped win promotion to the Premier League last month. 

He replaced first-choice goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, who ruptured his Achilles tendon towards the end of the campaign, keeping a clean sheet in their play-off final win against Leeds United at Wembley. 

MYLES KENLOCK

Town career: 2014-2022

Appearances: 103

The 27-year-old defender is negotiating a new deal with Ebbsfleet United, having joined them in October last year after spells at Barrow and Aldershot during the 2022/23 season.

Kenlock was ever-present for the Fleet and his form earned him a call-up to the England C team, winning his first cap in March. 

He helped the Kent side survive relegation from the National League as they finished 19th in the table to remain in the fifth tier for consecutive seasons. 

Fellow ex-Blue Darren McQueen is also in talks over a new deal with the Kent side.
