Ipswich Town striker George Hirst has revealed who he wants to face on the opening day of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

The 25-year-old moved to Portman Road on a permanent deal last summer after a successful loan spell, registering seven goals and six assists in just 26 Championship games.

The step up to the Premier League won't be totally new to him, having made two top-flight appearances for Leicester City in 2019/20. With that in mind, he's keen to face the Foxes early on next season, although there's another club that's caught his eye as well.

"It's a difficult one," he told Town TV. "I'd like Leicester, of course I would. I didn't get a chance to play that full game, so it'd be nice for that.

"My old man has always been a big believer in Man United. Man United are Man United - at the end of the day, whether they're doing good, bad or indifferent, they're one of the biggest clubs in the world. That's that.

"It's one of those, it's like a lottery. You could pick any name out of that hat and be absolutely over the moon with it, to be honest.

"There's so many unbelievable clubs in that league and hopefully we can go and be one of them.

"I'd probably say those two."
