Ipswich Town youngster Fin Barbrook starred as loan club Lincoln City progressed to the round of 32 in the Vertu Trophy after their 2-0 win over Barnsley last night.

The 20-year-old midfielder was making only his third appearance for the Imps since joining on a season-long loan deal on deadline day.

And Barbrook was named the Imps' supporters' player of the match with 34% of the vote as the Lincolnshire outfit made it three wins out of three in the group stages to top their group.

The young Town talent is yet to make his League One debut for Michael Skubala's side, who are sitting sixth in the table and have real depth in his position.

Conor McGrandles and Tom Bayliss are playing as twin sixes with great effect, while their backup is Ivan Varfolomeev, who is their club record signing.

The Southwold-born schemer enjoyed an impressive pre-season with Kieran McKenna's side and made his competitive senior Blues' debut in the Carabao Cup defeat at Bromley in August.

Barbrook attracted interest from a number of clubs after his performance on his Town debut, with the club deciding the Imps were the best option. The deal includes a recall clause in January.

He has also been featuring for Town's U21s side, who have been excelling in PL2 so far this campaign, to get more minutes under his belt.

Last season, he impressed on loan with National League outfit Sutton United, where he won their Players’ Player and Young Player of the Year awards.
