Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has confirmed transfer interest in Sammie Szmodics and said that the club won't look to replace him if sold.

Championship rivals Wrexham and Derby County are both in negotiations with the Blues about buying the 30-year-old front man ahead of Monday's 7pm deadline.

Ipswich signed the former Championship Golden Boot winner from Blackburn for £9m just 18 months ago and he still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract. With that in mind, the Blues are standing firm on their £6m valuation.

"There's not much to add really," said McKenna, when asked about that situation.

"It's been out there that the club's had one or two offers, nothing that is acceptable to the club at this point. And if that doesn't change by Monday, then Sammie will be staying and competing with the rest of the players here.

"So we'll see what comes by Monday."

Asked if Szmodics would be replaced in the event of a sale, the Blues boss replied: "We're talking hypotheticals here, but we've got Jaden (Philogene) hopefully back soon, plus Jack (Clarke) and Anis (Mehmeti). We've got Marcelino (Nunez) hopefully back at some point in the not too far future and Sindre (Walle Egeli) who can play in there as well.

"We've got pretty good options. So, yes, we're not thinking to add to those roles at the moment."
