AFC Sudbury travel to Witham Town tonight in the third round of the Robert Dyas League Cup, looking to make it three wins from three under new manager Jamie Godbold.

The former Kirkley & Pakefield boss guided his team to a superb 6-1 home victory against Great Wakering at the weekend – a result that followed a 1-0 home win against Maldon & Tiptree seven days earlier.

Sudbury currently occupy the final play-off position in Ryman One North but Godbold is keen to keep bottling that winning feeling, whether in the league or cup.

“It’s a good opportunity for us to gel together as a team and another opportunity to see what the players are capable of,” said Godbold.

“I want to stay in the competition as long as possible and if we get through this round, it suddenly gets exciting with a potential semi-final and final on the horizon.

“We go into the game with plenty of confidence and set up nicely for a tough trip to Brentwood at the weekend.”

Witham, sat one place above the Ryman Premier relegation zone, were without a game on Saturday – their clash at Billericay being postponed.
