AFC Sudbury may be on a run of three games without a win, but there is still a positive mood in the camp heading into tomorrow’s clash with Tilbury.

Mark Morsley’s side drew 1-1 at Ware last time out, in a game where they also missed a penalty and had Tyler French sent off, with the manager pleased with what he saw from his players.

They now face Tilbury at a time when the two sides are locked on 16 points in Bostik Division One North, with Morsley hoping to take the positives from the Ware clash into tomorrow’s game.

“I think we had a really good performance in that game at Ware, with lots and lots of positives, and I’m just hoping we can take those into this one,” he said.

“Tilbury haven’t started the season particularly well and they have just changed their manager (Joe Keith has arrived from Canvey Island), so he will certainly make them stronger.

“We have to focus on ourselves and if we can repeat the performance of last week I will be pleased because that will give us a good chance.

“We made some slight changes to the way we played and I was really pleased with how the players took those on board and really took into the game the instructions they were given.

“We attacked well with an offensive line-up and the pace we had up front was a real problem for them.

“We are in a good place, have had a good week off with no Tuesday game and have trained well so we are looking forward to the game.”

French is suspended while Billy Holland and Joe Wright are still not fit having struggled with injuries in recent weeks, with Morsley quick to praise Ollie Peters after he stepped into a midfield role in their absence.

“Billy was a key signing so we are obviously missing him but Joe is playing a half for the reserves tomorrow, which is good for him. He’s played too much in the last two years so we’ve given him a break.

“An injury for one player is an opportunity for another, and since Billy’s injury we’ve seen Tom Dettmar and particularly Ollie Peters step into the middle of midfield and do really well. Ollie has been a star for me, he really has.”
