AFC Sudbury’s injury woes have taken another turn for the worse, after the Ryman League Division One North club were hit by a new double blow.

Skipper Sam Clarke, who broke his right arm at Harlow on August 27, went for a check-up yesterday, when he hoped to be given the all-clear to start his rehabilitation.

But the midfielder was told the break is nowhere near being healed and he must return to hospital in another eight weeks’ time.

Clarke, who was hoping to return to action over the Christmas period, is now not expected to be available until February next year.

To compound Sudbury’s misery, Rhys Darg will be out for at least six weeks after being diagnosed with a hamstring injury yesterday.

Darg, who joined Leiston in the summer but recently signed for AFC Sudbury for a fourth time, scored on his first appearance in the 6-1 thrashing of Redbridge.

But the utility player went off injured in both that game and after only 12 minutes of Saturday’s 7-2 defeat at Soham Town Rangers, and after being assessed yesterday will now not be available again until around the New Year.

Manager Chris Tracey has been plagued by the curse of injuries throughout the current campaign.

In addition to Clarke, James Baker and James Smith have both been out for weeks with breaks, although striker Baker is expected to return in the near future.

Lee Boylan, Leon Antoine and Taylor Sinfield have also had spells on the sidelines injured this season.
