JOHN Ward was full of praise for goal-hero Anthony Wordsworth, and his team’s resilience, after a last gasp 1-1 draw at Griffin Park last night.

Wordsworth obliged with a sensational free-kick in the last minute of normal time to deny high-flying hosts Brentford.

Ward enthused: “Anthony kept his cool when it mattered most, with what was possibly going to be our last chance to score.

“The free-kick was a long way out and we knew that it would need something special for us to score. But Anthony has that quality about him.

“He is showing more and more, and he is maturing all the time, especially in the more central role that we have given him this season.

“This was a good point for us. We lost two points late on (against Leyton Orient) on Saturday, but tonight we have done that to the opposition.

“We had to really dig deep tonight, against a very good team. We are giving some very good games to some very good teams at the moment. Now we have another one at Sheffield United this Saturday.

“The first half was not great for us, but we improved in the second half. We kept going and were rewarded at the end,” added Ward.
