THE two legs of Colchester United's LDV Vans Trophy southern area final, against Swansea City, have both put back a week.

The U's were originally due to travel to south Wales for the first leg last night, but that was delayed for a week because of the Essex club's involvement in Sunday's FA Cup fifth-round tie at Chelsea.

Now this first leg has been pushed back yet another week, because Swansea have three players in international action next week, in the shape of Shaun McDonald, Mark Pritchard and Sam Ricketts.

Phil Parkinson's men will therefore visit the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday, March 7, with Swansea due at Layer Road for the second leg on Tuesday, March 14 or Wednesday, March 15.

Meanwhile, U's star midfielder Greg Halford was in the Football League under-21s squad that beat their Italian counterparts from Seria B 1-0 at Hull's Kingston Communications Stadium last night.

Halford was one of five players from League One in the squad, joining 11 from the Championship and one from League Two. Chelmsford-born Halford played for England under-20s in the Toulon Tournament in France last summer, and will be hoping to break into the England under-21 squad before too long.
