SUFFOLK batsman Tom Huggins is spending the next three months in winter nets with Essex.

The 24-year-old scored well in the Essex second XI last summer, and has been given a chance to impress at the Chelmsford indoor school between now and the end of March.

With Chris Schofield having earned himself a second contract with Surrey and Paul Grayson now first team coach with Essex, Suffolk are unlikely to call on either of their 2007 professionals this season.

Suffolk director of cricket Kevin Brooks is working on bringing in a new professional, and is also exploring the alternatives to replace Andy Brown, who left his coaching role with Suffolk to take a similar role with Derbyshire first XI.
