Palace 1 U's 3

COLCHESTER United scored three goals in the last half-hour to record a superb win at Crystal Palace this afternoon. It was only their second away victory of the season.

Palace had looked the better team during the first-half, but they had no answer to the U's refreshing play after the break, inspired by substitute Richard Garcia.

Skipper Karl Duguid broke the deadlock from close-in on 62 minutes, after substitute Scott Flinders had failed to palm away Jamie Cureton's deflected cross.

Duguid's strike had come just two minutes after Garcia had appeared as a substitute, and the Australian drilled home a spectacular second goal in the 70th minute to give the U's a two-goal cushion.

The Eagles pulled a goal back through Clinton Morrison, but Garcia then won United a penalty in the last minute of normal time, which Chris Iwelumo converted to rattle up his 10th goal of the season.
