FORMER Ipswich Town boss George Burley could be in the running for the manager's job at Sunderland after Howard Wilkinson and his assistant Steve Cotterill left the Stadium of Light tonight.
Burley, who has been out of management since being replaced at Portman Road by Joe Royle in October, is one of the names being linked to the relegation-threatened Black Cats.
Former Ireland manager Mick McCarthy and ex Leeds boss David O'Leary are also among the favourites to replace Wilkinson.
