Bury Town need to return to winning ways tomorrow, after three draws on the trot, when they entertain mid-table side Barking at Ram Meadow.

The Blues are without a win in five league and cup fixtures, and their last victory was a long five weeks ago, away at Tilbury.

However, Ben Chenery’s men have been close to three-point hauls over the last three weekends, following draws at Bowers & Pitsea (2-2), against Dereham Town (3-3) and at Brentwood Town (1-1).

Now it is time for the Blues to get over the line, if they want to improve on their current position of eighth in the Bostik North table going into the busy Christmas period.

“We’ve drawn our last three on the bounce, although the point at (league leaders) Bowers & Pitsea was a very decent point,” explained Chenery.

“We had to play 50 to 60 minutes with just 10 men against Dereham, while we played very well in the first half against Brentwood last weekend.

“We should really have put the game to bed in the first half of that game, but being the home team Brentwood really came at us in the second half, especially as they had come into the match with a very good recent home record.

“It’s been frustrating not to win any of these games, and we have another tough game this weekend against a very competitive Barking side.

“We don’t want those last three performances to go to waste, by not winning this weekend, especially as we have a fully-fit squad. We want to push on now.

“We need to be turning these draws into wins. We are playing very well, as a team, but now we jus have to make the right decisions to come up with the win.

“We are there or thereabouts in the league, and we want to be in the mix going into Christmas and the New Year.

“Performances have been really good, and new we need to get the results as well. Sometimes, it just needs a little bit of luck to go your way, rather than being hit with sendings-off or penalties,” added Chenery.

Bury will be without the services of midfielder Ryan Horne, who serves the second of a two-match suspension.

Bury are at Soham Town on Boxing Day and then entertain AFC Sudbury on New Year’s Day.
