Ipswich Town winger Cameron Stewart suffered a knee injury as the club’s Under-21s won 1-0 at Charlton this afternoon.

Stewart – a summer recruit from Hull – was playing for the first time since he broke his jaw in the pre-season finale at Leyton Orient. He had to be replaced early on, with Town going on to secure victory via Omar Sowunmi’s late headed goal.

Experienced duo Stephen Hunt and Darren Ambrose also featured for Mark Kennedy’s side, who were watched throughout by Mick McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor.

Kennedy’s side have now taken 10 points from their first four games, their three wins already equaling their total for the whole of last season.

U21s: Crowe, Robinson (Emmanuel 80), Wyatt, Benyu, Sowunmi, Clarke, Stewart (Galvin 23), Ambrose, McQueen, Patterson (McLoughlin 71), Hunt. Unused: Marsden, Willbye.
